Dodge Hornet R/T models are Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) that use a small battery pack with an electric motor for hybrid and all-electric operation, as well as a gasoline engine for long-distance driving. When fully charged, the Dodge Hornet R/T provides an EPA-estimated 77 MPGe combined with an all-electric range of up to 33 miles before switching over to hybrid or gasoline operation for a total EPA-estimated range of 360 miles. When using a 120-Volt Level 1 charger, the Hornet R/T can charge fully in around 7.5 hours, with a 240-Volt Level 2 charging station providing a full charge in around 2.5 hours.

GT models utilize a 2.0-liter Hurricane4 Turbo engine that produces 268 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque with a 0 to 60 mph time of 6.5 seconds, while R/T models highlight a 1.3-liter turbocharged plug-in hybrid powertrain that produces 288 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque with a 0 to 60 mph time of 5.6 seconds.
